A finished Prairie Barns shop on open North Dakota ground: three tall overhead doors, a raised centre bay, windows down the long wall and a gravel apron out front.

Post-frame and stud-frame buildings. Dickinson, North Dakota. Start with the building. What it's for and where it's going is enough for a first call.

What we build

Post-frame. Stud-frame where it makes sense.

If what you need isn't on this list, ask anyway.

What happens when you call

First thing we ask is what's going in it.

What has to get through the door. How you get around it once the floor is full. What ends up parked in there two winters from now.

The size comes out of those answers. So does post-frame or stud-frame.

A telehandler, a planter and a swather parked inside a post-frame building with open floor between them.
I went in with a drawing of what we were wanting and Alvin took that and put it on paper for us and ended up building exactly what we had in our heads.

Questions people ask

No. Most people call before anything is drawn up. Tell us roughly what you want to put up and we'll work from there.

Earlier than most people do. A building that is still an idea is easier to size and site than one already committed to a footprint, and nothing has to be decided on that first call.

We build both, so we don't have a side in it. Post-frame spans wide and goes up quicker, which suits machine sheds, arenas and warehouses. Stud-frame gives you more on insulation and finished interiors, so it fits heated shops and offices. Tell us what the building is for and we'll tell you which one we'd put on your site.

It depends on the size, the site and the finish, so we won't guess at a number online. Tell us what you're putting up and we'll put a real price to it.

North Dakota and Montana. We're based in Dickinson and have been building out here since 2013. Tell us where the site is and we'll tell you straight whether we can get out there.
